What we collect

We collect only what is necessary to run Quotiso. You can use the editor and download quote images without creating an account. When you do create an account or use the product, we may collect the following:

• Account information: your name and email address when you sign up with email, or your name and profile image when you sign in with Google.
• Content you create: quote text, canvas settings, and any images you upload to the editor. This is stored so you can access your work across sessions.
• Published quotes: when you publish a quote to the community, the quote text, canvas design, and your display name are stored and visible to other users.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and interactions within the editor. This data is aggregated and used to understand how the product is being used.
• Device and browser information: browser type, operating system, and screen size. Used to ensure the editor works correctly across devices.

How we use your data

We use the data we collect to:

• Run the Quotiso editor and save your work between sessions.
• Power the AI quote generation and image matching features.
• Display your published quotes on the community explore page.
• Send transactional emails when required, such as password reset or account verification. We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
• Improve the product by understanding which features are used and where users encounter issues.
• Prevent abuse, spam, and misuse of the platform.

We do not use your data to show you targeted advertising. We do not share your data with advertisers.

Image and content storage

Quote images you download are generated in your browser and saved directly to your device. We do not store downloaded images on our servers unless you explicitly publish them to the community.

When you publish a quote, the final canvas image is stored on Cloudflare R2 object storage and made publicly accessible. Canvas settings and quote text are stored in our database. Published quotes can be viewed and remixed by any Quotiso user worldwide.

Your recent work and saved templates are stored in our database and associated with your account. You can delete your account at any time to remove this data.

User-uploaded photos in published quotes

If you upload your own photo as a background image and then publish that quote to the community, that photo becomes part of the publicly visible published quote image stored on our servers. By publishing a quote that contains your own uploaded photo, you confirm that:

• You own the photo or have permission from the rights holder to use it publicly.
• The photo does not contain personal data of others without their consent, including recognisable faces of individuals who have not agreed to appear in publicly shared content.
• The photo does not violate any third party intellectual property rights.

If you want your uploaded photo removed from the community after publishing, contact us and we will remove the published quote and associated image from our servers within 7 days.

Content moderation and removal

We review published content and reserve the right to remove any quote from the community without notice if it contains inappropriate imagery, offensive language, hate speech, misleading information, or content that violates our Terms of Service. If your published content is removed, you will be notified where possible.

To report a published quote that you believe violates these standards, contact us directly with the quote URL and the reason for your report. We take all reports seriously and respond within 48 hours.

Image providers and credits

All background images available in the Quotiso editor are sourced from three trusted stock photo platforms. We do not host or own any of these images. They are accessed via API and displayed under each provider's free content licence. We are grateful to these platforms and the photographers who share their work.

When a background image is selected in the editor, the photographer name and a link to their profile on the source platform are displayed. We encourage users to visit the photographer profile and show appreciation for their work.

For commercial use of any specific image, we recommend verifying the current licence terms directly with the provider, as licences can change over time.

Third party services

Quotiso uses the following third party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay: stock photo APIs used to source background images. Search queries are sent to these services to retrieve results.
• OpenAI: used to power AI quote generation. Prompts you enter are sent to OpenAI's API. We do not use your prompts to train models.
• Cloudflare R2: used to store published quote images. Images stored here are publicly accessible via URL.
• Vercel: our hosting provider. Handles serving the application and may log request metadata.
• Google OAuth: used if you choose to sign in with Google. We receive only your name, email, and profile photo.

Cookies and analytics

Quotiso uses session cookies to keep you logged in. These are functional cookies required for the product to work. We do not use tracking cookies or third party advertising cookies.

We use basic analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns. This data is not tied to individual identities.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, and delete the data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

• Access: request a copy of the data we hold about your account.
• Correction: request that we update any inaccurate information.
• Deletion: request that we delete your account and associated data. Published community quotes may remain unless you also request their removal.
• Portability: request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and saved work are deleted within 30 days. Published community quotes are retained unless you request their removal at the time of account deletion.

Usage and analytics data is retained in aggregate form for up to 12 months and does not contain personally identifiable information.
